IDM Notification: Okta MFA third party email service impact (April 23 2025)

This message is to inform you about an unplanned outage impacting the Okta MFA email service (via third party service called SendGrid).

Since approximately 5:30 PM ET on Wednesday, 04/23/2025, the Okta Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) service via email, provided through IDM, has been experiencing problems and users may encounter delayed (5+ minutes) email MFA codes.  Okta corporate support is actively working this under a priority 1 Okta support case.  Users that have setup a backup/alternate MFA device should try to use those (SMS text, IVR voice, Okta Verify, Google Authenticator, etc), however there are some reports that SMS may be intermittently impacted as well (could vary depending upon mobile service provider).
 
If support is needed related to this, or other CMS services, please reach out to your application's Tier 1 Help Desk.  If you have questions related to this notice, contact the IDM Team.  An update will be sent out as soon as the CMS IDM team has updates from the Okta corporate support team or additional information to provide.
