We have sun today but we're tracking rain for part of our weekend. We also continue to follow Karen Read's trial, where testimony is set to resume Thursday morning. And the Celtics got a big win Wednesday night, without Jayson Tatum. Here's the morning's top headlines.

It was an emotional day in court Wednesday as the mother of slain Boston police officer John O’Keefe took the stand for the first time in either of Karen Read’s trials.

Peggy O’Keefe cried as she delivered emotional testimony that the prosecution will try to capitalize on Thursday as the trial resumes for another day.

The prosecution is pushing to have a Read interview clip played to the jury where she talks about an interaction she and Peggy O’Keefe had the morning that John O’Keefe’s body was found. It was at John O’Keefe’s house after the pair left the hospital where John O’Keefe was taken. Read showed up to grab her belongings and in a previous interview that aired on TV, Read said, “And his mother says to me, ‘it looks like he got hit by a car.'”

As we move through this Thursday, we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds in the Greater Boston area. Our skies could get a bit hazy at times later today as southwest winds push smoke from the New Jersey wildfires toward New England.

We don’t expect too many problems from the smoke, but we’ll keep you posted.

Four people have died after a car crashed into a store in Waterbury Thursday morning, causing part of the building to collapse and closing streets in the area.

The crash happened on Cherry Street near Maple Avenue around 12:47 a.m. A sign near the building says Hernandez Market.

Police said four people were in the vehicle.

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics defeated the Orlando Magic in a physical Game 2 at TD Garden, 109-100.

With Jayson Tatum (wrist) sidelined, Jaylen Brown played the starring role with a game-high 36 points and 10 rebounds. Kristaps Porzingis also played a crucial role in the Celtics’ win with 20 points and 10 boards.

Porzingis also tallied five stitches in the victory. The C’s big man was bloodied after taking Goga Bitadze’s elbow to the face. He returned to the game shortly thereafter to thunderous applause from the Garden crowd.

Massachusetts firefighters found a lost dog in a storm drain Monday after responding to a vehicle fire on Interstate 91 in West Springfield.

The fire broke out Monday afternoon and the vehicle was fully involved when firefighters from West Springfield and Chicopee arrived. The West Springfield Fire Department said the gas tank was ruptured, causing gasoline to spill out onto the road.

Crews treated the person in the vehicle, who was transported to an area hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. That person’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A woman died in a fall at Purgatory Chasm State Reservation in Sutton, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, police said.

“Tragically, a 49-year-old mother of four from Topsfield fell in the chasm earlier today. She succumbed from her injuries and crews are there now attempting to retrieve her remains,” Sutton Police Chief Tom Calouro said.

He said the woman’s death appeared accidental. Police were informed by a 911 call after family members of the woman found park rangers.
