This week the North George Mason Drive and North Park Drive Intersection Improvements Project was completed and reopened.
What's Different Now?
- All four legs of the intersection have signals to indicate who has right of way when.
- The east side of the intersection has a brand new crosswalk to complete the box
- Yellow markings through the intersection help guide left turns around the medians
Previously, bollards guided traffic and restricted dangerous turns as a temporary solution in response to an increase in car crashes. The County was able to expedite the Capital project to signalize the intersection and begin construction in fall of 2024.
Safer Streets for Everyone
These improvements create a safer environment for nearby residents, visitors to Lubber Run Community Center and Barrett Elementary, and others traveling through the area.
