Remember Ivanka Trump? During her dad’s first term, she and her husband, Jared Kushner, were never far from the chaotic swirl of the West Wing, although many marveled at their ability to disappear whenever the excrement truly hit the fan (which was often). Now that Kushner has his Saudi billions, they’ve kept their distance from the slapstick-slasher sequel that is Trump II. But Ivanka has resurfaced on Instagram with some interesting book recommendations, and Kase Wickman is here with the overanalysis you didn’t know you needed. Elsewhere, Meghan and Harry hold an outdoor vigil, Pete Hegseth gives the Pentagon a glow-up, and oh my God Donald Trump is going to humiliate us all at the Pope’s funeral, isn’t he? Thanks for reading, and tell us how you like our new format at vfdaily@vanityfair.com! |
As if there haven’t been enough concerning flight headlines this year, a slew of recent global aviation incidents involving exploding cargo, hacked GPS systems, or spoofed coordinates have been threatening to upend air safety. According to officials whom Jeff Wise spoke with, there’s been little doubt as to who’s been causing the problem; many disruptive signals have been traced back to the heavily defended Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, according to reports. |

The Biden White House reportedly sent officials to warn the Kremlin to knock it off. The message seemingly got through, and the attacks stopped—at least for the time being. The security situation in the United States has changed dramatically, and quickly, though. Donald Trump is a longtime admirer of Vladimir Putin and has said that he trusts Russia more than US intelligence.
The sophistication of the attacks is rivaled only by Russia’s penchant for brutality, so what’s next? The sky is the limit. |

Famed etiquette maverick Donald Trump has a long history of rudeness—even during the most solemn moments. Following the death of the pope, the president took to Truth Social to boast “Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome. We look forward to being there!” Read the room, much? His behavior comes as no surprise, though. The deaths of public figures have offered him a particularly well-lit stage for strange behavior, whether it’s showing up at the funerals of people who seemed to loathe him or speaking ill of the dead. Brace yourselves, Vatican City. |
