A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Chantilly Charger Community,

What a week it has been! After a stormy, rainy start, the bright sunshine has finally broken through, and with it, new energy is buzzing through our halls. This week has been absolutely supercharged with fantastic events and activities at Chantilly:

  • We kicked things off by celebrating our incredible seniors at the Boys Soccer Senior Night – a truly memorable evening!
  • It was a joy to be a part of the recognition of student excellence during the Academy Awards earlier this week, which highlighted the amazing achievements in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
  • The Charger competitive spirit is high as all our spring sports teams charge into their District tournaments, and we've are thrilled to host exciting boys' and girls' soccer matches right here on our home fields in a double header this evening, in addition to a home baseball game!
  • Tonight, we also are excited to hear the outstanding sounds of our talented orchestra at their spring concert.
  • We are also immensely proud of how diligently our students have worked to complete their AP and SOL testing, navigating technical challenges with resilience.
  • As we look to next week, we extend our very best wishes to our over 400 seniors who will begin their Charging Forward internships on Monday – what an incredible opportunity for them to explore their passions!

As we move forward quickly towards the end of the year, please remember the importance of ensuring students attend school every day. Should your student be absent, arrive late, or need an early dismissal, please notify their subschool by 9:30 AM. Don't forget to check our website regularly for any schedule updates. Let's keep this positive momentum going all the way to June 11.

I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon!

Amy T. Goodloe, Ed.D.

Lightspeed Parent Weekly Reports

As a reminder, FCPS offers a free service that allows parents to stay informed about your child's online activity on any FCPS device. By completing the Lightspeed Parent Report Request, enrolling parents can sign up to receive a weekly report summarizing the websites your child visits while using an FCPS device. These reports are delivered directly to a parent's email address over the weekend by Lightspeed, FCPS's internet content filter. Visit the Lightspeed Parent Report page on the FCPS website for more information and directions on how to sign up.

Each weekly report includes a link to register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal, which provides more detailed browsing information. This portal also gives parents the ability to pause internet access on their child’s FCPS laptop during non-school hours, such as dinner or bedtime.

Downloading Student Google Drive

If your student is preparing to graduate or leave FCPS for any reason, it’s important to know that their Google Workspace account will be automatically deactivated once they are no longer actively enrolled in FCPS. This process happens during the summer, shortly after the end of the school year. Once a student account is deactivated, there will  will no longer be access to FCPS Google Drive or access to FCPS Gmail.

If any student will no longer be an FCPS student after this school year, they must  download or export any files they wish to keep before the end of the school year. The download process of files can take several days, so please make sure to check in with your students.  They should be starting that process now.

Students will have the option to use Google Takeout to export their files. Visit Google’s directions here: How to download your Google data using Takeout. It’s important to know that you will only be able to export files for which you are the owner.

If students would prefer to manually select files from your Drive to download, follow the Downloading Your Data instructions on the Google Workspace Information for Students and Parents page of the FCPS website.
