2025 Product Calendar — The U.S. Census Bureau has posted anticipated release dates for each regular and recurring statistical product scheduled for release in 2025. These products are listed in the Census Bureau’s online product calendar, which is updated as needed throughout the year.
Demographic
Detailed Languages Spoken at Home and Ability to Speak English for the Population 5 Years and Over: 2017-2021 — The U.S. Census Bureau is set to release a new table package that provides data on over 500 individual languages and language groups spoken across the country in 2017-2021. Detailed Languages Spoken at Home and Ability to Speak English for the Population 5 Years and Over: 2017–2021 presents national and state-level trends based on data from the American Community Survey (ACS). This is the third tabulation the Census Bureau has released beyond the 42 languages and language groups published annually, updating a package released in 2015. (Scheduled for release June 3.)
Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey — The U.S. Census Bureau has expanded data collection for the experimental Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey (HTOPS) to almost 30,000 households. This expanded sample size will allow for data to be released at a subnational level. Launched in January, HTOPS is a successor to the Household Pulse Survey (HPS). HTOPS will continue the strong tradition of the HPS by providing rapid insights into national events that have socioeconomic impacts on U.S. households.

“Wage Records Demonstration Project: Multi-State Workforce In-Flow and Out-Flow” —The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute, welcomes Ajsa Suljic as she presents, “Wage Records Demonstration Project: Multi-State Workforce In-Flow and Out-Flow.” Attendees will explore a recent wage records pilot study conducted in Washington state that follows a cohort of workers over three years as they transitioned between jobs in the Pacific Northwest and different industries. Findings contribute to evidence-based policy decisions and explore the impact of industry changes on wages, hours worked and job locations. (Scheduled for May 21.)
2022 Economic Census – Product Statistics Update — The U.S. Census Bureau will release statistics about products and services from the 2022 Economic Census. The release will include two tables, one presenting data on products by industry and the other data on industries by product. Data provided will include the number of establishments and the sales, value of shipments or revenue by product codes. Products are categorized based on the North American Product Classification System and industry data by the North American Industry Classification System. (Scheduled for release May 29.)

2024 Annual Survey of Public Pensions — The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release the 2024 Annual Survey of Public Pensions. The ASPP provides revenues, expenditures, financial assets and membership information about defined-benefit public pension systems. Defined-benefit plans provide a specified benefit in retirement. (Scheduled for release June 5.)
Commodity Flow Survey Provides Data on the Nationwide Shipment of Goods — The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release data from the 2022 Commodity Flow Survey. The survey, a partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is the primary source of national, state and selected metropolitan area statistics on domestic freight shipments. It provides information on the origin and destination, value, weight, mode of transportation and distance of commodities shipped. Data are available for the nation, 50 states and the District of Columbia, and selected metropolitan areas. (Scheduled for release June 17.)
Business Trends and Outlook Survey — The Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS) measures business conditions on an ongoing basis. BTOS experimental data products are representative of all employer businesses in the U.S. economy, excluding farms. The data allow greater insight into the state of the economy by providing continuous, timely information for key economic measures. Data are released biweekly and are available by sector, state, employment size and the 25 most populous metropolitan statistical areas.
Monthly Business Formation Statistics — Business Formation Statistics (BFS) provide timely, high-frequency data on business applications and employer business formations monthly. The data are available at the state, regional and national levels, and by industry sector at the national level. The next monthly BFS will be released June 11 and will include May 2025 data. Census Bureau Releases Community Resilience Estimates for Puerto Rico — May 15 — The U.S. Census Bureau released the Community Resilience Estimates (CRE) for Puerto Rico, which include population estimates by level of social vulnerability to disasters of the commonwealth, municipios and census tracts. The updated interactive tool provides users with an easy-to-use way to quickly look up and map neighborhoods with “low,” “medium” and “high” social vulnerability.

Census Bureau to Release Report Examining Geographic Mobility in the United States by Birth Cohorts or Generations — May 6 — The U.S. Census Bureau released a report based on 2005-2023 American Community Survey 1-year estimates showing geographic mobility – the movement of people within and across geographic boundaries – by birth cohort. Birth cohorts are groups of people born during a specific time frame who pass through life together.
Employment and Labor Force Characteristics for Married Householders and their Spouses — May 5 — The U.S. Census Bureau released a table package – Employment and Labor Force Characteristics for Same-Sex and Opposite-Sex Married Householders and their Spouses – based on the 2023 American Community Survey (ACS). The tables contain estimates of selected employment and labor force characteristics of householders and their spouses ages 16 to 64 in civilian same- and opposite-sex married households. Estimates are available for the nation, states and the District of Columbia, and for 15 selected metropolitan areas. At the national level, estimates are available by sex, race and Hispanic origin.

Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey — May 16 — The U.S. Census Bureau released the first dataset for the experimental Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey (HTOPS). This dataset was collected February 21, 2025 through March 7, 2025 and is available at the national level. Future data releases for the HTOPS will be available at lower geographic levels because the Census Bureau is expanding its data collection to almost 30,000 households. Vintage 2024 Population Estimates for Incorporated Places and Minor Civil Divisions and Housing Unit Estimates for the Nation, States and Counties — May 15 — The U.S. Census Bureau released internet tables and detailed downloadable files showing annual population estimates for all local functioning governmental units, including incorporated places (such as cities and towns), minor civil divisions (such as townships) and consolidated cities. They also include housing unit estimates for the nation, states and counties. All data will be available as of July 1, 2024. Spanish

2023 Nonemployer Statistics — May 15 — The U.S. Census Bureau recently released the 2023 Nonemployer Statistics (NES). The NES provides subnational economic data for businesses that have no paid employees, are subject to federal income tax, and have receipts of $1,000 or more ($1 or more for the Construction sector). The data consist of the number of nonemployer establishments and receipts by legal form of organization (U.S. and state only) and by receipt size class (U.S. only). Statistics are available for 18 industry sectors at varying levels of industry detail at the national, state, metropolitan/micropolitan statistical area, combined statistical area and county geography levels.
New Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics Data — May 8 — The U.S. Census Bureau released the 2022 Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics (NES-D). This release also includes demographic data by urban and rural classification, receipt size of firm, legal form of organization and characteristics of nonemployer business owners. The NES-D is an annual statistical series that uses existing administrative records and census data to link demographic characteristics to the universe of nonemployer businesses.

Community Resilience Estimates (CRE) — The CRE tracks how socially vulnerable every single neighborhood in the United States is to the impacts of national and local disasters.
