Island Creek's Annual Read-A-Thon

Get ready to turn the page, Island Creek Families! Our annual Read-a-Thon is starts this coming week,  Wednesday, May 21st to Friday, May 30th! This exciting event is a fantastic way to encourage a love of reading, and all funds raised will directly benefit our amazing staff and students here at Island Creek Elementary. Read-a-Thon forms go home Thursday. Extra copies are in the office.

May 15-20: Students get adult sponsors using their pledge sheets choosing pledges per minute or a flat fee. Please remember, this is not a door-to-door fundraiser. Take the Island Creek Challenge: 5 sponsors at $10! We wholeheartedly encourage every student to participate and discover the joy of reading, regardless of their ability to collect donations.

Then, from May 21st to May 31st, the reading adventure begins! Students log reading at home/school (parents initial). Even being read to counts for youngest students!

Finally, please help your child return their completed Pledge Sheet, Reading Log, and any donations collected to their teacher or drop them off in a marked envelope in the Main Office on June 3rd and 4th. Making donations is easy! You can use MySchoolBucks (just browse all items and select Read-A-Thon) or send in a check made payable to Island Creek Elementary. Please note only Island Creek families will be able to use MySchoolBucks. All other donors must issue a check payable to Island Creek Elementary.

Every student at Island Creek will receive a fun ocean animal bookmark just for participating. Raise $10+ for a cool Croc Keychain. The top reader in each class will win a special prize, and the class with the most minutes read in both the lower and upper grades will earn a fantastic class treat – will it be an ice cream party or a pizza party? The students will decide!

Let's make this year's Read-a-Thon our best one yet! Thank you for your support in fostering a love of reading at Island Creek Elementary.
