Hello MUES Families,
It has been a wet and soggy week at MUES! Unfortunately, this evening's PTA Movie Night Event is being postponed as a result of the inclement weather. The PTA is working to identify a rain date for Movie Night. We will communicate this information to families soon so that you can join us for this fun annual spring event.
This week we have been busy with SOL testing and preparing for the end of the school year, which is now just 17 days away. We have also welcomed a handful of former Mustangs who are now seniors at Westfield HS as volunteers. They have completed their coursework and are volunteering at our school during their final few weeks as students in FCPS. They have been so helpful in assisting in the library as well as serving as hallway monitors during SOL testing. They graduate from Westfield HS on Monday, June 9th. Please join me in, not only, congratulating them, but wishing them the very best in their future endeavors!
Next week will be our final week of SOL testing before we transition to end of the year activities such as Field Day, the Talent Show, class parties, and our annual 6th Grade Promotion celebration. Please be on the look out for communication from your child's classroom teacher regarding opportunities to volunteer or donate items for these end of the year activities.
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Melissa Goddin
Your Proud Principal

Our Mustangs have begun their SOL testing in grades 3-6. We recognize that every student is different—some may be curious about their score, while for others, this information might cause unnecessary stress. We encourage you to consider your child’s individual needs before discussing their results. Scores will be updated on Mondays and will be visible in SIS ParentVUE and StudentVUE.
If you have any questions, please feel free to connect with our School Test Coordinators, Mr. Credle or Ms. Janofsky.
Families, staff, and community members can explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. - Monday, May 19, 6:30-8 p.m., Herndon High School
- Friday, May 23, 7-8:30 p.m., Lewis High School

Through the end of the school year, McNair Upper is collecting gently used, high interest children's’ books at all reading levels to support the new McNair Summer Bookmobile! We will visit several sites in the community throughout the summer to offer a free “little free library on wheels” for our students. Staff, students and families may drop off book donations in the designated box in the McNair Upper front office.
We are also seeking financial support to fund this project. If you know of a business that can provide monetary donations to support our students’ summer reading, please reach out to Mallory Janofsky at mljanofsky@fcps.edu for details.

As administration begins collaborating with classroom teachers to form grade level classes for the 2025-2026 school year, we understand that parent/guardian input is valuable to consider too.
We kindly ask that you do not request specific teachers; rather keep the focus on the type of learning environment and learning style that will support your child's academic and social wellness success.
Interested parents/guardians that would like the opportunity to share their input with administration should do so no later than Friday, May 16th.
Please click on and fill out the appropriate grade level Parent/Guardian Input Form below:
