Prime Minister Mark Carney says the federal government will present a budget in the fall, after his finance minister confirmed there would be no spring budget.
Mr. Carney, who is in Rome, said at a news conference on Sunday that there isn’t enough time to put a budget together over the next few weeks, and his government will instead do so in the fall parliamentary sitting.
Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said on Wednesday that the government will not present a spring budget but will deliver a fall economic statement later this year.
Mr. Carney is one of more than 150 dignitaries who attended the formal inauguration of Pope Leo XIV on Sunday morning.
