Principals' Message

TLES Families,

Last week we hosted our final PTA meeting of the school year.  This was a wonderful event recognizing the many contributions of our parents/guardians in partnership with our PTA, which made this year a success!  When parents/guardians are involved in the PTA - attending meetings, taking part in volunteer opportunities, attending restaurant nights, and helping with fundraisers, we are able to provide the very best resources, field trips & events for our students, and support for our teachers! Thank you to those who supported any of these PTA opportunities this year!

Part of last week's PTA meeting also consisted of celebrations and updates from the TLES Admin Team.  Here were some of the notable celebrations we covered:

  • Hosted our first Roar and Explore event!  Students brought their families to school and shared about what they were learning in math, language arts, and science, with take-home activities provided for all subjects!
  • Math team trained eight more teachers in AddVantage Math Recovery (AVMR) this spring!
  • Teachers successfully implemented our new Benchmark Reading/Writing curriculum!
  • Continued work of teachers in grades K-6 designing engaging in inquiry-based, hands-on, & critical thinking lessons through Science!
  • Continued growth & advocacy of students found eligible for AAP full-time, part-time, and subject-specific differentiation!
  • Completion of our 3rd year implementing the Second Step Curriculum.  Students participated in 19 lessons covering topics of Growth Mindset & Goals, Emotion Management, Empathy & Kindness, Bullying Prevention, and Problem Solving!
  • SEL Screener data shows Timber Lane students continue to rank Supportive Relationships as their highest strength at 89% favorable, reflecting strong connections to both peers, family members, and school staff!

TLES Admin also shared the upcoming dates & times for each grade level's Portrait of a Gradudate Presentations of Learning (POGPOL):

  • Kindergarten: 9:00, June 10th classrooms (followed by EOY party)
  • 1st Grade: 9:45, June 6th - Classrooms

Tomorrow, Monday May 19th will be our last 3-Hour Early Release day for the 2024-2025 school year.  Please ensure your child's teacher and the main office are aware of any changes to dismissal and after-school supervision plans well ahead of time.

This Thursday, May 22nd will be our annual Family Heritage Night!  This is one of THE BEST events at TLES where families come together to share a dish with friends and neighbors that represents their culture, families dress in beautiful attire representing their family heritage, and activities are provided highlighting the beautiful families that make up our TLES community!  We hope your family can attend and we are very excited for another wonderful community celebration!

Looking forward to another wonderful week at TLES!
