Evening Parking Enforcement in Residential Areas
CITY OF FAIRFAX — In response to community feedback, the City of Fairfax Police Department has recently targeted evening parking enforcement for commercial vehicle violations in residential neighborhoods throughout the city.
Per City Code § 98-147, commercial vehicles are generally not permitted to park in residential zones regardless of the time of day, except under specific conditions:
Allowed:
-
One commercial vehicle under 9,000 pounds may be parked off-street (e.g., in a driveway) per residence.
-
Residents without off-street parking may request a permit to park one qualified commercial vehicle on the street in front of their home. If approved, a city-issued permit must be displayed.
Not Allowed:
-
Parking commercial vehicles on public residential streets without a permit.
-
Parking commercial vehicles over 9,000 pounds in residential zones.
-
Parking trailers or semitrailers on residential streets (except briefly for loading, unloading or repairs).
The department will continue to focus on enforcement of these regulations to ensure neighborhood safety, emergency access and visual quality. For more information, visit the Parking Information page on the city website.
