A Message from the Principal

What a week at Ravensworth!  It was great to see so many of you at the PTA End of the Year Bash.  A big thank you to the Ravensworth PTA for hosting an amazing community event.  We enjoyed the musical talents of our grades 4,5, and 6 students during their band and strings concerts.  This morning, we held our K-3 Field Day.  We appreciate all the family volunteers who supported this event.

We have so much to look forward to next week as well.  On Monday, we have Field Day for grades 4-6.  If you wish to volunteer, please come out to help.  We will celebrate the promotion of our grade 6 students on Tuesday evening.  Don’t forget that we have a 2-Hour Early Release on Wednesday, June 11th.  Students will be dismissed at 1:20 pm.

We will be sending students home with two Benchmark magazines to help them practice their reading and writing skills during the summer. You will also receive a letter from us with weekly learning plans and activities. Find more ways to support your child's literacy skills on FCPS’ Summer Learning Resources webpage. All of these activities are optional, but we encourage families to help their students practice reading and writing during summer break, so that they can start strong next school year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of your child’s learning.

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria

Principal

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

Kindergarten class playing

There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility.
  2. Identify your local school.
  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.
  5. Schedule an appointment.

After the appointment at the school (one parent/guardian must be present), the student will be ready for the orientation to be held on April 1st, 3:00 pm at Ravensworth Elementary School. Read more about the registration process.

Try Online Registration

Online registration for the 2025-26 school year is open. Parents/caregivers may register their new student(s) online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process

We Need Your Help

School Traffic rules

Being a good neighbor is super important for our whole community! It helps keep everyone safe and happy. Just like we have rules at school, there are rules for driving and parking. For example, it's never okay to block someone's driveway or park too close to it (you need to be at least 10 feet away!). This helps people get in and out of their homes easily. Also, remember to stay at least 15 feet away from a fire hydrant when you park. Firefighters need to be able to get to those quickly in an emergency. Doing things like making an illegal U-turn in the middle of the block, jaywalking (crossing the street outside of a crosswalk), or parking the wrong way on a two-way street can be really dangerous for drivers and people walking. Let's all do our part to follow these rules and be the best neighbors we can be!

Reminder to Pick Up Medications from the Health Room

medication

Deadline Wednesday, June 11th no later than 1:20 p.m.

The School Health Room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school no later than 1:20 p.m. (early dismissal time)

Medication left in the health room after dismissal on the last day of school will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your child.

If your child is enrolled in an FCPS sponsored summer program, the existing medication authorization forms may be used for those programs, but it is parent/guardian responsibility to pick up the paperwork/medication and transport to the summer site.

If you have any questions over the summer, please don’t hesitate to contact our Ms. Hubard (Public Health Nurse) at 703-426-3600 or email ohubard@fcps.edu.

Student Testing Results Coming Soon

Throughout June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, there is a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.

How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines

Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Individual test websites provide report translations and help for interpreting test results. Please contact us with any testing questions or for additional information about how we use test results to support student success.
