Principal's Message
What an out-of-this-world week it has been here at Riverside Elementary! Our school was bursting with energy, excitement, and unforgettable moments as we celebrated some of the best parts of our school year.
Field Day was an absolute hit! The day was filled with joy, teamwork, and friendly competition as students raced, tossed, jumped, and laughed their way through each station. It was heartwarming to see the students encouraging one another, showing sportsmanship, and simply having a blast outdoors. A huge shoutout goes to our amazing PE teachers, Mr. Davis and Mr. Fernandez, for planning such a fun-filled day, and to our wonderful parent, staff, and community volunteers who helped bring the event to life—we couldn’t have done it without you!

Career Day added another layer of excitement as students explored the endless possibilities their futures may hold. Our hallways were filled with curiosity and wonder as community members shared their experiences, passions, and career journeys. It was inspiring to see our Rockets fully engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and imagining themselves in roles such as scientists, chefs, artists, and engineers. Many thanks to Ms. Dawson and Ms. Moreno for coordinating this meaningful event that truly opened doors for our students’ dreams.

We also celebrated two special milestones this week for our youngest learners! Our preschoolers wrapped up their final week of school, and we are incredibly proud of their growth, creativity, and the friendships they've formed. Their laughter and bright spirits have been a joyful part of our school all year. Meanwhile, our kindergarteners marked the end of their first full year as Rockets with an end-of-year celebration filled with songs, smiles, and proud families. It was a beautiful moment to honor how far they’ve come and all they’ve achieved in just one year.

HIT Tutor
Riverside Elementary is seeking a dedicated and dependable High Impact Tutor (HIT) to join our team and support our school-wide commitments to equity, growth, and student success. The ideal candidate will be available five days a week for approximately five hours each day and will work closely with students in small group settings to close achievement gaps in reading and math.
Tutors will provide in-person instruction aligned with the research-based model for high impact tutoring, which includes maintaining a consistent tutor-to-student ratio of no more than 1:5, building strong and sustained relationships with students, delivering sessions of at least 30 minutes three to five times per week, and using high-quality, FCPS-approved curriculum aligned to grade-level standards. Progress monitoring and data-driven instruction are essential components of the role, and tutors will receive ongoing coaching and support from Riverside Coaches and the FCPS Office of School Support.
We are looking for someone who is committed to the academic and social-emotional success of every student and who reflects the values of collaboration, kindness, and professionalism that define the Riverside community.
