They are acting like spoiled little boys. In public, on huge platforms. The New York Times had a rather suprisingly large headline this morning about the fight between Trump and Musk. Are they saying it has more significance than at first glance? Speaking on my podcast yesterday with the humorist Andy Borowitz, I surmised that this could be more than just a distraction and entertainment. Trump was elected (by a slim margin) with the assistance of Musk money, and Maga Congress members are continually following Trump blindly because of money. Before this breakup, Musk has openly threatened to primary members of congress who do not support everything that Trump puts forward. Without Musk, Trump has much less power. Economist Robert Reich had perhaps the best summary of the fight today when he noted, “That any of us have to care about the messy breakup of these two massive narcissists—and that they both individually wield such massive power—is an indictment of our political system and further proves the poisonous influence of Big Money on our democracy.” It’s only good news to have Musk go away, I hope it sticks. In another development just now, Abrego Garcia, who was illegially deported to El Salvador without due process, was brought back to the US this afternoon by the Trump administration. The NY Times in their headline writes he was “Mistakenly deported,” which is flat wrong. The Trump administration knowingly deported him and refused to return him after a judge ordered his return. This is good news that Mr. Garcia is home, and so far there is no evidence that he is a member of a gang or done anything wrong. Regardless, it appears that the administration will begin to build their case against him. “Abrego Garcia has landed in the United States to face justice,” Attorney General Pam Bondi told reporters at a news conference on Friday. We shall see. Don’t forget to make your plans to protest on June 14th, if you feel comfortable doing so. Here is a place to search for gatherings near you, or how to get involved even at home. It’s Friday night, and I hope you are heading into your weekend for some rest. I will try. Thanks for being here, you guys are the best.
