An NBC News investigation comprising leaked reports, satellite images and interviews reveals the extent of Rwanda's shadow war in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. Rwandan President Paul Kagame has carefully and repeatedly denied any role in the conflict.

The revelations come as President Donald Trump's administration says it is close to brokering a peace deal with the presidents of Congo and Rwanda that will give the U.S. access to Congo’s minerals.
