We will end the 2024-25 school year this Wednesday with our traditional "clap out" for our sixth graders. They got a taste of it on Friday when our high school graduates visited. Dismissal on Wednesday will be at 1:40pm for all students. Thank you to everyone for making this an amazing year!
News from the Fox Den

A Message from Ms. Consolla
As we close down the 2025-26 school year, our team is reflecting on the great things we accomplished and experienced as a school including launching a new language arts curriculum, the return of our Thanksgiving luncheon, implementing a new Kiss & Ride, preparing for full-time AAP services, the continuation of community events such as Fall Fest, the Fox Trot and Spring Carnival just to name a few. Thank you for all your support of our administration and, more importantly, your child’s teacher(s) all during this year. The home-school partnership is what makes Fort Hunt so great!
Standards of Learning (SOL) test scores and other end of year data are coming in. Since the Virginia Department of Education’s new accountability system (explained here) includes components for which all schools will not have data for some time, it’s not yet clear where schools will end up in the new performance categories. Our own analysis of SOL tests shows a lot to be proud of this year. I’m happy to share that we’ve improved pass rates in Reading (up 6 points) Math (up 1 point), and Science (up 3 points) compared to last year. We also decreased chronic absenteeism 4 percentage points compared to last year (13% down to 9%). We are especially proud of the growth of our multilingual learners. Each year, their language skills are measured by an assessment called the WIDA. The percentage of students who made expected language growth went from only 40% making their expected growth last year to 69% this year.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Fort Hunt community. The opportunity to work alongside you and our staff in service of our students is one that I embrace with care and humility. I'm so excited to begin a new year with you and build on the many successes from this year. If you are moving, I wish you and your family the best. Know that you're always welcome at the Fox Den.
As always, thank you for your partnership with us in your child's education at Fort Hunt.

Sixth Graders: We Have Required Immunizations for You!
As required by the Code of Virginia, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend public school. All students entering seventh grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations:
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older.
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older.
- A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents/guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with their child’s health care provider now to avoid the rush this summer. If your child does not have a health care provider, please visit the FCPS Immunizations Resource page to find out where to get an immunization.
Please review the Virginia Department of Health Information Packet for more information on rising 7th grade immunization requirements.

We are honored to work with your family this year and will work everyday to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for your child. We can't do it alone. Please contact us when there is a question or concern, especially related to bullying. As a parent, you will often hear about something before staff might. Thank you for all your support.
