It's mostly cloudy today with some sprinkles and a high around 65 degrees. Over the next few days, we can expect more cloudy conditions and a chance of precipitation as daytime highs range from the low to mid-60s.

Anchorage officials are weighing two proposed ordinances: One seeks to make it a crime for anyone to sleep out on public land, with misdemeanor penalties for those charged, while a second proposal is a narrower version of the same. Some residents told Assembly members that making it a crime to sleep outside showed a lack of compassion for those with few resources or options.

Areas north of Healy remained under evacuation orders though fire activity slowed since flaring to life last week. Evacuation alerts in several areas north of Fairbanks were reduced Thursday.
