Marco Rubio, Secretary of State Democratic Republic of the Congo National DayOn behalf of the United States of America, I extend best wishes to the Congolese people and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the 65th anniversary of your nation. The United States values its enduring diplomatic ties with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Since 1960 our two countries have shared a common belief that a secure, democratic, and prosperous African continent is good for the world. We are committed to working with the government and people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to achieve a durable peace in the Great Lakes region which will enable economic growth, boost regional connectivity, and allow the region to develop its full potential. May this National Day be a time of celebration for the Congolese people. We look forward to deepening our cooperation in the year ahead and further solidifying the ties between the Congolese and American peoples.
