You know what’s funny?
 
The night before you’re supposed to film the biggest project of your life…
 
You probably shouldn’t get punched in the face by your best mate.
 
But that’s exactly what happened to me.
 
2 days before filming Guitar Mastery 101 - the course that started everything here at GMM - I was at a party like any other Saturday.
 
My mate Jared (goes by Jeezy) decided to try LSD for the first time…
 
And let’s just say, it didn’t go well.
 
He started destroying furniture in our flat like a gorilla on fire.
 
So I grabbed him, tried to calm him down, but in his tripped-out mind?
 
All he remembered was falling and hitting his head.
 
That was enough.
 
He came at me full speed…
 
And boom - black eye, right hook, full force.
 
Right before filming the course that would eventually help hundreds of thousands of guitar players.
 
And here’s where it gets darker...
 
A good friend of mine (a bald, tatted-up punk rocker the size of a wardrobe) stepped outside with a shovel.
 
Started digging.
 
“Yo Jamie, what are you doing, man?”
 
No answer.
 
Eventually he says…
 
          “Charlie, no one hits you. I’m digging Jeezy’s grave.”
 
He wasn’t joking either, we had to get him out of there for the night.
 
Now, thankfully… nobody died.
 
But that was the moment I realized something important:
 
Nobody’s gonna fight for your guitar dreams harder than you will.
 
Everyone told me I shouldn’t be on camera.
 
I had a black eye, brain fog, and an endless migraine…
 
But I filmed anyway.
 
Because when you’ve spent years building something and you know the value it’s going to bring people…
 
You don’t wait until it’s convenient.
 
You don’t quit when it’s messy.
 
You don’t let a little blood or bruises stop you.
 
And that course… the one I filmed with a black eye, covered in concealer?
 
It’s changed lives.
