Chitlada and Vichit Apisukh never took a vacation. Now they can’t stop. Recently retired, the elderly couple are on what their daughter, Brooklyn-based photographer Lanna, calls a “Permanent Vacation.” 

“Now I’m retired, and I want to go places and see things. I can’t slow down,” Chitlada, 76, said. “I often tell [Vichit], we better go now before you have to hold a cane.”

The Apisukhs were tight on time and money for most of their lives; as retirees on a fixed income, they still stick to a strict budget. But that won’t hold back the pair, who braved the Niagara Falls in Ontario and slurped down fish ball noodle soup in Na Jomtien, Thailand. All the while, Lanna, inspired by their excitement, captures their adventures.
