Somehow, despite losing back-to-back road series, the Red Sox emerged from Philadelphia — where they suffered one almost-unprecedented walkoff loss and then claimed a rabbit-from-a-hat win on Wednesday in a contest in which they trailed, 5-0 — feeling emboldened.
“I think we showed we can play in a postseason game right now,” said catcher Carlos Narváez. “The series was the environment of a postseason game — back and forth, we were down, 5-0, with two losses already. That doesn’t bother us.”
“It’s always fun playing against those teams, because you want to compare yourself against the best competition,” said Garrett Whitlock. “It’s a great way to test yourself on the road.”
