Credit: Reuters | US President Donald Trump has announced a new wave of tariffs on more than 90 countries - find out what they are here. The new import taxes are set to come into effect on 7 August, with the exception of Canada, which saw tariffs increased overnight. Hardest hit is Brazil, which will see a 50% levy on goods entering America, but "unlike with other countries, this move isn’t about trade. It’s political", writes South America correspondent Ione Wells. And North America correspondent Anthony Zurcher and deputy economics editor Dharshini David assess whether what Trump sees as a victory may in the long-term come at a high price. |

Credit: BBC | Layan al-Majdalawi and Mira Tanboura are two of more than 160 cases of children shot in Gaza, for whom the BBC has gathered accounts. The BBC found that in 95 of these cases, the child had been shot in the head or chest. In response to the findings around Layan and Mira’s deaths, the Israeli military said the details "have been recorded and will be examined by the competent authorities". It added: "Intentional harm to civilians, especially children, is strictly prohibited." Warning: This video contains distressing images. |
