Amazon founder Jeff Bezos‘ mother, Jacklyn Gise Bezos, has died following a battle with Lewy body dementia, he announced on Instagram. She was 78. Gise Bezos died in her Miami home on Thursday, according to the Bezos Scholars Program, a foundation she started with her husband, Mike Bezos. “After a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia, she passed away today, surrounded by so many of us who loved her — her kids, grandkids, and my dad,” Bezos, her eldest son, wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday. “I know she felt our love in those final moments.” |

For a 3 1/2-year-old, Elmo sure has sung a lot on “Sesame Street” with some of the best musicians in the world. But it wasn’t until Thursday that the friendly red monster made his Grand Ole Opry debut, a country music rite of passage. The squeaky voiced singer’s roots in the genre actually run pretty deep. Elmo helped ring in the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary this year by co-hosting with his “Sesame Street” pal Abby Cadabby. Elmo, in a little blue cowboy hat and matching shirt, teamed up for a duet alongside Lauren Alaina, while Abby Cadabby sang with Tayla Lynn, the daughter of Loretta Lynn, the late country star who had visited “Sesame Street” herself. |

Rapper Sean Kingston sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in $1M fraud scheme in South Florida |

Rapper Sean Kingston was sentenced to three and a half years prison on Friday after being convicted of a $1 million fraud scheme in South Florida. Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were each convicted by a federal jury in March of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. U.S. Judge David Leibowitz sentenced Turner last month to five years in prison, but Kingston’s sentencing was rescheduled to Friday. |
