What to ask your partner every payday
Love, Money and Communication
How to align your financial goals
Money and love can get a little … complicated. In a 2024 Ipsos poll, 34% of partnered Americans said money was a source of conflict in their relationship. Even in the best relationships, couples have different views on money — one may like to spend while the other likes to save, which can create some friction. That's why communication is key. The good news is that nearly 90% of Americans say they're comfortable talking about finances with their partners and about 84% feel they're aligned with their partners on money matters, the Ipsos poll found.
In about half of all married-couple families, both spouses work, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Two incomes doesn't necessarily create double the budgeting work, but it does require some extra thought. The key, again, is communication.
If you're looking to get more financially aligned with your partner, we've put together a list of questions to ask each pay day.
