A Message from Ms. Kirkland
Dear Families,
We are celebrating another great week of learning and growth at our school! Thank you for your continued support and partnership—it truly makes a difference for our students and staff.
I would like to extend a special thank-you to families for your flexibility and support during our early dismissal on December 10. This time allowed our teachers to engage in important professional learning together, strengthening our instruction and ultimately benefiting our students.
As a reminder, next week is the final week of school before winter break. Please be sure to review the newsletter for important details, including office hours during the winter break, which are shared in the article below.
We are also looking forward to a special event:
-
Winter Sing-Along Friday, December 19 at 1:30 PM Students in Grades 5 and 6 band, chorus, and strings will be performing. Families of participating students are warmly encouraged to attend and celebrate our students’ musical talents.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership. We look forward to finishing the year strong together!
Warmly,
Kate
Kate Kirkland, Principal

Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5)
FCPS participates in Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5). VQB5 is Virginia’s system for measuring and supporting quality in early childhood programs so children enter kindergarten ready to learn. VQB5 builds on health and safety standards by measuring the quality of teacher-child interactions and the use of curriculum. Refer to “VQB5 for Families English/Spanish” for more information.
