Little Gold Men’s Unsolicited Advice for Hollywood in 2026 |
The holidays are a time to reflect—and a time for people like us to give Hollywood some unsolicited advice. (Hollywood: You’re welcome.)
I’m Rebecca Ford and on this week’s episode of Little Gold Men, John Ross and I are joined by our Vanity Fair colleague Hillary Busis as we dole out some thoughts on how to make the industry better in 2026. It’s been a tumultuous year, with mergers (and more mergers), missteps, and struggles at the box office. But in between the chaos, there’s been a lot of good news too. The LGM team suggests a few ways to perhaps juice up the box office in 2026, including the return of platform releases and having faith in known properties such as Bridget Jones. We also discuss how a charming press tour with gorgeous, charismatic actors won’t guarantee a movie’s success if the movie—wait for it—isn’t good. |
Turning our attention to TV, we talk about how certain tried-and-true formats like the medical drama can really work if done right (thank you, The Pitt). We also hope that shows will embrace having more episodes in the future.
In this jam-packed Little Gold Men, each member of the team predicts which 10 films will be nominated for the Oscars’ best picture, based on the breaking news of Tuesday’s short lists. In a surprise turn of events, John and I had exactly the same list of 10 movies. Which ones? You’ll have to listen to find out. |
