Welcome to the PTA’s second newsletter!

With just a week remaining in the second quarter, the PTA wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the great events we’ve had recently, and to look ahead to some of the exciting things coming up. We are so grateful for the continued support, time, and energy our families bring to the Rocky Run community. Thank you for staying engaged and involved. We look forward to a great rest of the year together.

Rocky Run’s Got Talent Show — The Stars Truly Shined

What an unforgettable evening! Thank you to all of our talented students who bravely took the stage and shared their incredible skills, and to the enthusiastic audience who came out to cheer them on. From singers and dancers to musicians, magicians, and more, the range of talent on display was truly impressive.

A special thank you to Mrs. Meghan F. Pafumi, RRMS Theatre Director, and Dr. Daphne Carter-McCants, PTA President, for the tremendous time, energy, and dedication they poured into making this event such a success. We are deeply grateful for your hard work and for the meaningful ways you support our students and the Rocky Run school community.

Rising 7th Grade Curriculum Night and Electives Fair

The PTA hosted a table at the Rising 7th Grade Curriculum Night and Electives Fair, where we enjoyed meeting incoming students and families and sharing information about the many ways the PTA supports Rocky Run. We handed out snacks (always a crowd favorite), sold PTA car magnets, and spent plenty of time giving directions and answering questions for families new to the building.

It was a busy and fun evening, and we were excited to help welcome the next group of Rocky Run students.

Dave and Buster’s Spirit Night is Thursday, January 22

Join us for a night of fun and games!

WHEN: Thursday, Jan. 22 | 5–8 PM

WHERE: Dave & Buster’s, Fair Oaks Mall

WHY: 20% of game cards, food, and non-alcoholic drinks goes to RRMS PTA (once we hit $250!)

HOW: Show the flyer, paper or digital, when buying play cards and food

**VERY IMPORTANT!**

You MUST Buy game cards from the FRONT DESK (kiosk purchases do NOT count toward our total)

Virginia PTA Day at the Capitol (January 23)

A group of RRMS PTA members are heading to Richmond to join more than 300 PTA advocates from across Virginia to:

• Hear education-related bills debated,
• Meet with state legislators,
• Share firsthand how state policies and funding impact our students and school community

This is an important opportunity to ensure our voices, and our students’ needs are represented. Learn more HERE! 

No Fuss Fundraiser

Next week, the PTA is kicking off our No Fuss Fundraiser. And yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. This fundraiser is designed to be simple and completely hassle-free. That means no baking, no selling popcorn or wrapping paper, no door-to-door anything—and absolutely no running (we promise).

Just support our school in the easiest way possible. Be on the lookout for more details to come!

Wish List

Teachers’ and Staffs’ Amazon Wish List

Since the PTA launched the Teachers’ Amazon Wish List in the new year, the response has been truly overwhelming. In just the first two weeks, more than half of the items have already been purchased. Our teachers, staff, and PTA are incredibly grateful to our Rocky Run families and community for this generous show of support.

If you have not yet had a chance to purchase an item, there is no need to worry. We will continue updating the wish list with new requests to support our teachers and staff throughout the year.

*Items can be delivered directly to the school or dropped off at the main office. Please be sure to include the staff member’s name, as well as your own, so we know who the item is intended for and who we should thank

Staff Appreciation Snacks and Drinks

As the second quarter wraps up, let’s show our amazing teachers and staff some appreciation!

We’re collecting drinks and individually packaged snacks to treat them as they power through the end of the quarter. Please sign up HERE and drop off items at the school by Friday, January 23. Thank you for helping spread the love!
