Leuven, Belgium – Today, Euro NCAP is pleased to announce that Allianz, one of the world’s leading insurance companies, has joined the Safer Trucks programme as an Associate Member, reinforcing the alliance between vehicle safety assessment and commercial risk insight.

Launched in 2024, the Euro NCAP Safer Trucks programme has quickly become an award-winning initiative, recognised for its transparent, independent safety ratings of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). In its first two years, the programme has assessed nearly 30 truck models, highlighted critical safety gaps, and accelerated the adoption of advanced safety systems across the freight sector. In crashes involving heavy goods vehicles, around 90% of those killed are occupants of other vehicles or vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists. With freight transport responsible for the movement of approximately 95% of goods across the EU, the exposure and societal impact are significant. These figures underline the urgency of improving commercial vehicle safety on European roads.
