As the rush of free agency fades and the 2026 NFL Draft comes into view, it appears the Patriots still face the same questions at tight end that they had at the start of the offseason. Namely, how can they get younger, while still providing support in the passing game for Drake Maye?
Hunter Henry, who will turn 32 next season, is entering the last year of his contract, and Austin Hooper signed with the Falcons.
In next month’s draft, only Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq is considered to be a true first-round talent. While coach Mike Vrabel remained impressed with the depth at the position in this year’s draft, there doesn’t appear to be anyone else in this class capable of providing a sizable boost in their first year in the league.
So what’s the path forward?
