Celebrate Poetry Month with Jane Johnston Schoolcraft
Did you know that April is Poetry Month? We celebrate the important role poetry plays in our culture and in our lives. Join in by exploring and transcribing the papers of Ojibwe poet Jane Johnston Schoolcraft and her family. Read historian Barbara Bair's recent blog post about Schoolcraft to learn more about her remarkable life and work.
Transcriptions for Christian Fleetwood papers now available on loc.gov!
By the People volunteers transcribed the Christian Fleetwood papers in February to celebrate Black History month and the completed transcriptions are now available for researchers. These transcriptions will unlock more effective searches and lead people down unexpected paths of discovery in the collection. Explore them for yourself and see what you can find. We are so grateful to the 300+ registered volunteers and countless anonymous volunteers who contributed to making the story of Christian Fleetwood and his family more accessible to all!
All the best,
Abby, Carlyn, and Lauren
