Anthony went 2 for 4 with a walk in the Red Sox’ win over the Twins on Wednesday. He’s hitting .246/.355/.369, a slightly above-average hitter in the context of this year’s leaguewide offense. Yet there is a sense of more to come, fueled by Anthony’s talent and ambition.
Anthony holds himself to what teammates describe as remarkably high account, and can be self-skewering in the face of imperfection. That dynamic came to light this month when Anthony, on a play at the plate, unleashed an ugly throw from left field for an error.
