Historian Brooke Newman of Virginia Commonwealth University will discuss her new book, The Crown’s Silence: The Hidden History of the British Monarchy and Slavery in the Americas at a virtual Made at the Library event sponsored by the Manuscript Division. Dr. Newman will describe her research for the book , and discuss her participation as an advisor to the Library’s ongoing exhibition, "The Two Georges: Parallel Lives in an Age of Revolution," in conversation with Julie Miller, curator of early American history in the Manuscript Division and of the “The Two Georges.”

Made at the Library is an event series highlighting works inspired by and emerging from research at the Library of Congress. Featuring authors, artists, and other creators in conversation with Library experts, this series takes a deep dive into the process of working with Library’s collections.
