Global food supplies in jeopardy, warns fertiliser boss

One of the many consequences of the war in Iran is that a lot of fertiliser and its key ingredients are being held up in the Gulf as the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. This is just at the time of the year when they're most needed: planting season. The boss of one of the world's biggest fertiliser producers has told the BBC this will lead to smaller crop yields, and up to 10bn fewer meals globally per week. Svein Tore Holsether told our business editor Simon Jack this could lead to a price war for food - and that poorer countries may suffer.
