The husband will only learn to pretend he’s listening. ~Author Unknown We had just brought home a new puppy and were enjoying some play time with him in the yard for the first time. Toby had oodles of energy and was soon running us ragged. Besides getting acquainted, it was also time to start potty training and teach basic doggie etiquette to our new family member. Anticipating this day, I had been reading some articles and books on behavior modification. It was a subject especially interesting to me because I am a trained psychologist. Amy Sutherland’s New York Times article that became a viral sensation, as well as her subsequent book, stood out on my reading list. She had attempted (and succeeded) to modify her husband’s behavior at the same time, using the same principles that she trained her dog with. (Keep reading)
