We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak. ~Epictetus Sleep was a long time coming one night in May 2010. After tossing and turning for hours, I finally gave up. I flipped on my nightstand lamp and grabbed my Bible, asking God to speak to me personally through whatever passage I randomly opened it to. I often did this, and more times than not, I stumbled upon something that really hit home — a pertinent and helpful message for whatever situation I was facing. The first thing that captured my eye when I opened my Bible was a pink commentary box at the bottom of the page. The commentator said that King David had not been where he was supposed to be when he was tempted by Bathsheba, and if he had been where he should have been — on the battlefield with his men — instead of lagging behind at his palace, he would have been spared a whole lot of trouble.
After reading this, something in my spirit stirred. A voice in my head told me that I needed to go the next morning to a place where I volunteered approximately once a month. (Keep reading)
