When the US and Israel launched the first attacks on Iran on 28 February, the government in Tehran promptly shut down the internet - to prevent surveillance, espionage and cyber-attacks, it said. It has since become one of the longest-running national internet shutdowns ever recorded worldwide. That was, until Tuesday, when it was partially restored. People inside Iran told the BBC they were back online, but it's unclear if services will be fully reinstated, and, if so, how much censorship there would be. The network started to come back online as Iran condemned fresh US strikes against it earlier this week, branding them a "gross violation" of the ceasefire.
