The surprisingly human future of education

Seckinger High School, which opened in 2022 in Gwinnett County, Ga., touts itself as “the nation’s first Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)-themed educational institution.” When I heard about the school, my first question was: What does an A.I.-themed school even mean in practice?

I went to visit Seckinger — and an elementary school and a middle school that feed into it and share its A.I. theme — in March. I wanted to look beyond the district’s marketing to find out what was going on in classrooms, when a tech framework is applied all the way down to kindergarten.
