Marginal to slight risk of thunderstorms is forecast to begin this evening.
Scattered storms are expected across the Carolinas, eastern Tennessee, and Virginia beginning this evening. The Asheville area and surrounding region can expect 0.5 to 0.75 inches of rain. Some isolated flooding and a few strong wind gusts are identified with these initial storms throughout the region. A flood watch is in effect from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 8 p.m. Thursday.
If your area issues a flood warning:
- Find safe shelter right away. Depending on the type of flooding and your location, you may
- Evacuate if told to do so.
- Move to higher ground or a higher floor.
- Stay where you are.
- Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Turn around, Don’t Drown!
- Remember, just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away.
- Stay off bridges over fast-moving water.
