Germany: New Recommendations Published on Digital Safety for Children and Young People

On June 24, 2026, a German Expert Commission on the Protection of Children and Youth in the Digital World presented 56 recommendations to protect and educate children and young people about using digital media, including artificial intelligence. The recommendations focus on protection, empowerment, or participation, according to the specific needs of children in different stages of their development. They are directed at parents, schools, public authorities, and civil society, as well as children and youth themselves.Context Federal Minister of Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth Karin Prien established the independent commission in September 2025 to translate evidence-based research findings, expert opinions, and the needs and wishes of children into concrete recommendations for action....
