HSE has conducted a review of the approval of the active substance dimethomorph and proposes to withdraw the approval.
We reviewed the approval of dimethomorph in light of new scientific information which indicated that the active substance may no longer satisfy the criteria for approval.
The review considered the potential endocrine disrupting properties in humans for the oestrogen, androgen and steroidogenesis (EAS) modalities and the classification as toxic for reproduction category 1B for effects on fertility.
The review concluded that dimethomorph met the criteria to be classified as having endocrine disrupting properties in humans for the EAS modalities and is classified as toxic for reproduction category 1B.
HSE therefore proposes to withdraw approval of dimethomorph in GB.
Details of this proposal will now be forwarded to the World Trade Organization for consultation with trading partners.

Stakeholders should note that pesticides are in scope of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreement currently being negotiated between the UK and the EU. Once negotiations on the SPS Agreement have concluded, HSE will communicate further on any implications the agreement has for the sector.
