If you're nervous about all the chaos in the financial world, here's a helpful way to think about it.

Read to the end.

It's short.

OK…

Many people think of business investments like stock investments.

They want a guaranteed average return.

Now:

A guaranteed return on stock investments doesn't exist.

Everyone pretends that's not true.

We ignore Japan's "lost decade" from the 1990s, when the stock markets plummeted and took all those so-called safe investments down the toilet.

Oh, and "lost decade" is not correct, by the way.

It was longer than that.

Which means if you put your money in, and waited for 15 years, you'd be in the same place you started. And maybe you could live with that until you remember inflation is a thing, which means your cash is worse off.

"But Tim, I'm not Japanese! The U.S. stock market is safer."

Okay.

Go to the S&P and enjoy your cozy 10-12%.

Place your $10,000 in and enjoy your $11,000 next year.

(Before inflation).

And pray that you don't need to cash out whenever the markets are down.

And pray that the ongoing tariff fights, geopolitical uncertainty, and AI valuation concerns don't eventually send the U.S. into its own lost decade.

You watch the news, so you're aware of all these possibilities.

I am not trying to scare you.

Just presenting facts.

My strategy:

Sure I've got money in stocks.

But I prefer searching for opportunities that will turn my $10,000 into $100,000. Or more.

That's why I started a digital business.

Anyway.

None of this is financial advice. Just a peek into my brain.

The point here is this:

Business investments are different because you control the outcome.

If you invest in Apple, and then Apple's CEO makes a stupid decision that tanks the stock, you have no choice but to take the hit.

If you invest in your business, it's a different story.

You make the decisions.

You choose your path.

You apply effort.

You reap the rewards.

All the rewards.

Because unlike Apple, you don't own 1 share out of 14 billion.

You own the whole damn thing.

So you don't have to "live with" a 6% return.

You can double, triple, or 10x your results.

That is not an exaggeration.

That's business.

Those fat returns are not uncommon in digital business. No physical goods. No supply chain. No delivery costs.

Just you helping people out.

And getting paid handsomely for it.

OK enough.
