Sunshine Scoop 8/14/26

The Sunshine Scoop

Dear Louise Archer Families,

As we close out this Friday evening, there is a wonderful sense of anticipation building at Louise Archer! I’m excited to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Tory, who officially transitioned into her new role this week. Tory brings a wealth of elementary school experience, having served as both an instructional coach and assistant principal throughout her career. We are thrilled to begin this new chapter together.

All around the building, the signs of a new school year are beginning to appear. Today, teachers trickled in carrying boxes upon boxes of materials, decorations, and supplies as they began preparing their classrooms. Our instructional assistants gathered this morning for learning and preparation of their own, while our custodial team has been hard at work putting the final touches on the building.

And now, for just a little longer, the halls are quiet. As we sit here on this Friday evening, we find ourselves eagerly anticipating Monday morning, when our staff will arrive and the building will once again come alive. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and begin another wonderful year together! We look forward to seeing you and your children at Open House on August 21st from 9:00a-10:00a.

Sincerely,

Liz Noto, Principal

Tory Swanson, Assistant Principal

Instrumental music is not just about learning how to play the cello or flute. Our performing ensembles also teach students important life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, perseverance, leadership, accountability, honoring commitments, and discipline. Learning and instrument can also help relieve stress, build self-confidence, and be an outlet for creativity and expression! Afternoon Bus Passes: New Process for 2026-27

school bus driver

As we roll out the new bus card system for the 2026-27 school year, we will temporarily be unable to accommodate afternoon bus pass requests. This pause will allow us to ensure the new card system is working smoothly before adding temporary bus changes.

Once the bus card system is fully underway, we will send a community message letting families know we can begin accepting afternoon bus pass requests.

What Families Need to Know About the New Process

Once afternoon bus passes are available, families will need to follow a new request process:

  • Email LAESBusPass@fcps.edu at least TWO SCHOOL DAYS in advance of the requested bus change. Please do not send requests to the classroom teacher.
  • Copy the receiving parent/guardian on the email.
  • The receiving parent/guardian must reply to the email approving the request and confirming that they are expecting your child after school. A simple response of “I approve” is sufficient.
  • Louise Archer office staff will process the bus pass and notify Transportation so the temporary rider can be added to the bus roster for that day.
  • The student will then be permitted to board the bus.

Then and Now: Comparing the New Process to the Previous Process

Previous Process

New Process

Parent emailed the classroom teacher and copied the receiving parent.

Parent emails LAESBusPass@fcps.edu and copies the receiving parent.

Receiving parent replied to approve the change.

Receiving parent replies to approve the change.

Classroom teacher issued a physical bus pass.

Office staff approve the bus pass & communicate with Transportation

Student showed the bus pass to the driver; this was the driver’s only notification of the change.

Transportation/bus staff are notified in advance, and the student is added to the bus roster.

We appreciate your patience as we transition to the new bus card system and work to ensure that afternoon transportation changes are handled safely and efficiently.
