Born on August 12, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Bill was the son of William C. Slight, Sr. and Freda (Martin) Slight. He graduated from Niles High School and went on to earn his degree from the University of North Dakota, where he played on the UND baseball team and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He proudly served three years of active duty in the United States Army as a combat engineer at Fort Leonard Wood

Marilyn Joy Gorsline (née Smith), age 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, August 3, 2026. A longtime resident of Glenview, IL, she attended Cornerstone Church, and retired from Kraft Foods in 2008. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie J. Rice and Julie Anne Perry (Lyndon); grandchildren, Loren Gayle Ayers Perry (Collin) and Jessika Alyse Dyke (Jordan); and many nieces and nephews.
