Blenheim Boulevard Update
Upcoming Tree Removal Along Blenheim Boulevard
Tree removal at the former Willard Health Center site is scheduled to begin next week and will be completed in phases throughout September. This includes trees along Layton Hall Drive and Blenheim Boulevard. Trees will be removed along the high voltage lines at the rear of the existing Sherwood Community Center as well.
As previously communicated, contractors will remove trees along the retaining wall on the Great Oaks side of Blenheim Boulevard, across from the first Army Navy Country Club entrance, Aug. 17-18. This work will require a full road closure to allow a crane to remove large trees. Blenheim Boulevard will be temporarily closed to thru traffic between Lion Run and Old Picket Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local access will be maintained for properties and facilities within the closure area.
Construction contractors are erecting fencing around the former health center. Additional fencing has been placed near the entrance to the Sherwood Center, where underground utilities are being relocated.

Willard-Sherwood Health and Community Center Construction Meeting
A construction kick-off meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 in the performing arts room at the Sherwood Center.
The project team will discuss the construction schedule and what to expect for traffic, parking, noise, and site safety, and how those impacts will be minimized. Coordination with the Blenheim Boulevard Multimodal Improvements Project will be discussed.
Attendees will learn which programs are moving to the new building and how current programs will continue throughout the construction phase of the joint Fairfax City and Fairfax County project.
