NADA, or National Acupuncture Detoxification Association protocol, is a form of auricular—or ear—acupuncture. VA Whole Health materials describe the approach as potentially useful for Veterans experiencing concerns including pain, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, sleep difficulties and substance-use disorders.

 Knowing how to respond to an overdose can save a life.
VA Providence is offering Veterans an opportunity to learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose Thursday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Veterans can learn how naloxone works, see how the nasal spray is administered and receive free naloxone. The event will be offered at the Main Hospital Front Atrium Lobby in Providence and the New Bedford VA Clinic.
All Veterans are eligible. If you can’t attend, ask your VA pharmacist or primary care team about naloxone.

The session gives Veterans an opportunity to learn about available employment opportunities and connect directly with an employer. VA Providence has previously partnered with Sodexo on Veteran employment information sessions through its Employment Resource Center.
Veterans interested in employment or considering a career change are encouraged to participate and learn what opportunities may be available.

Rhode Island FC hosts Louisville City FC Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m., and VA Providence will have donated tickets available free for Veterans and their families while supplies last.
To request tickets, email Justyn.Charon@va.gov and include the email associated with your SeatGeek account, the Veteran requestor’s branch of service and the number of tickets requested.

 Join us as we take meaningful steps toward hope, healing, and connection because suicide prevention starts with all of us.
VA Providence invites Veterans, employees, volunteers and community partners to come together Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 12:30 p.m. for the Annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk at the Providence campus.
The walk is an opportunity to raise awareness, honor lives affected by suicide and stand together in support of Veteran mental health.
Participants can also connect with VA programs and community organizations offering information about mental health care, wellness, crisis support and other Veteran resources.
