Had a long chat with Jamal after book club about why some tomato plants get those curly leaves. He thinks it might be the overnight temperature swings we had last week, but I told him my neighbor swears by adding crushed eggshells to the soil. We went back and forth for a good twenty minutes. Honestly neither of us is an expert, but it is nice to trade ideas and keep the mystery going.
Later I walked over to the community garden to check on the zucchini and noticed the marigolds are finally opening up. The bees were all over them, which made the trip worthwhile. I might bring a thermos of tea next time because it was a little chilly once the sun went behind the trees.
Tomorrow I plan to repot the snake plant and maybe start a few herb seeds on the kitchen shelf. Nothing too ambitious, just enough to feel like spring is actually moving.

I finally got around to rotating my mattress and found a missing sock under the bed, the one with the little blue stripes. It had been gone since at least January. The whole room feels slightly tidier now. I also wiped down the window sill and found a tiny plant starting to root in a forgotten water glass.
Then I spent way too long trying to decide what to make for a snack, and ended up with an apple and some peanut butter. Sometimes simple is better. Later I might watch a documentary about octopuses or just read a chapter of that mystery novel I started.
My neighbor two doors down is practicing piano again, which I actually kind of like. It drifts through the wall in the evening and makes the whole floor feel a little more alive.
