Early voting begins Thursday in collar counties but not until Oct. 1 in Chicago and Oct. 7 in suburban Cook

The launch of mail-in balloting in the collar counties and beyond in Illinois begins after months of attempts by President Donald Trump to restrict the practice. Early voting in Chicago and suburban Cook County will begin in October.
