Transportation staff have been working to translate the Langston Boulevard Area Plan’s recommendations into reality for 14 intersections along the corridor.
Now, you can share your thoughts on the preliminary concepts for these intersections and help shape the future of Langston Boulevard for everyone who uses this important commercial and residential street.
How can I participate?
There are three ways to get involved.
- Provide your input in the online feedback form by October 25
- Attend the public open house at Langston-Brown Community Center on Wednesday, October 21
- Join the project team for Design Studio Office Hours at the Langston Boulevard Alliance on October 20, 21 or 22
Find the online form and the details for in-person events on the project page.
Due to unforeseen restriction of space at the Military Road roundabout project, the project team needs to close a portion of the intersection of Military Road and Nelly Custis Road starting on Monday, October 12 for two full weeks, weather permitting. The closures are necessary to give crews room to build the roundabout structure.
During this period, look out for these closures and open lanes:
- Open - northbound traffic from Nelly Custis Drive onto Military Road
- Open - southbound traffic from Military Road continuing on Military Road
- Closed - eastbound traffic from Military Road onto Nelly Custis Drive
- Closed - southbound traffic from Nelly Custis Drive onto Military Road
- No driveways will be affected by this traffic pattern change.
- Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrian and bike traffic
To aid in the detouring traffic, there will be an All Way Stop at the intersection of Nelly Custis Road and Lorcom Lane.
ART Bus 56 and Arlington Public School buses are implementing their own detours to avoid the lanes closures.
The project is on track to be completed before the end of 2026. Learn more on the project page.
