Thank you to everyone who made the Thoreau Color Games a huge success! We are still waiting for the final numbers from Apex, but we raised at least $30K, which will go to the Thoreau PE department to purchase new equipment and the Thoreau PTA. A huge thank you to our event volunteers who made the games possible, the Thoreau staff and admin team who supported us throughout the program, everyone who donated so generously to this fundraiser and all the students who showed their school spirit!

The Thoreau PTA is excited to announce that it will be accepting entries this year for the National PTA Reflections Art Program. Reflections is a 50-year-old annual national arts contest where students create original artwork that interprets a specific theme. This year's theme is "What My Culture Means to Me." Students may compete in as many categories as they wish, and are permitted one entry per category: visual arts, photography, literature, music composition, film production and dance choreography. There is also a special artist division where students who identify as having a disability can compete and receive special accommodations.
Entries are due by November 30th. Please visit the Reflections page on the Thoreau PTA website for detailed contest rules and instructions on how to submit entries.
It's not too late to join the PTA! Membership in the PTA does not require you to volunteer or attend meetings. Membership does allow you to vote at PTA meetings, gives you access to the school directory (coming soon), and supports key PTA events and programs including Skate Night, Crosstown Hoops, special 7th and 8th grade events, the Spelling Bee, the Reflections Art Contest, Hospitality and Staff Appreciation, as well as principal and staff educational grants.
