Follow the yellow brick road back to Oz as the film adaptation of the hit musical “Wicked” flies into theaters.
Denzel Washington brings a bit of gravitas (and silliness) to Ridley Scott’s action-packed sequel “Gladiator II,” which opens in theaters.

Rootsy folk-rockers Dawes take over Boston’s Roadrunner in support of its new album, “Oh Brother.”
Newton native Erica Rhodes takes her stand-up act across the Boston area this weekend with shows at Beverly’s Off Cabot Nov. 22-23 and Laugh Boston Nov. 24.
Atlanta singer Tanerélle brings her sultry, smoky sound to the Paradise Rock Club.
King’s Dining & Entertainment in Boston has a free night of laughs in store featuring local comics Jason Cordova, Andrew Della Volpe, and Peter Martin.
Tuesday
The annual Faneuil Hall Tree Lighting returns to with a night of performances, festive treats, and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Created, co-written, and performed by mentalist Vinny DePonto, “Mindplay” takes the stage at Wimberly Theatre through Dec. 1.
Jessica Dickey’s play “Galileo’s Daughter” continues its run at the Central Square Theater in Cambridge through Dec. 8.
Last chance
Fluff and more iconic foods are transformed into works of art in “Linda Dolack: Made in Massachusetts,” which ends its run at Cambridge’s Mobilia Gallery Nov. 30.
